No. Mickey died because he was ill. Rocky lost the first fight, because he couldn't come to grips with the fact that he had no legitimate claim to the championship. Mickey had Rocky fight 3rd tier ranked boxers, so Rocky could keep on fighting, and Mickey could continue to get a paycheque. After he beat Clubber, Rocky retired.
