Communications systems would remain extraordinarily slow (being horse or ship-powered); no telegraph, no telephone, television, or radio. They also would be solely the province of the powerful. Wealth distribution would have remained as it was prior to 1800 - the Middle class would be much smaller; rather than make up the majority of the population as it does now, probably only 20% of the population.
