Toast makes a great base for nut butters, either alone or with your favorite jam, jelly or fruit preserves. Or don't bother toasting the bread at all, just make yourself a good old-fashioned PB&J. Then there's toast with hummus, either plain or with sliced avocado. Or top the hummus with mushrooms sauteed in olive oil and garlic.
