As for hotels, I like to go by the reviews on Trip Advisor when I travel. But Kayak, etc. are also good search engines. Hotels in and around Times Square are very expensive because you are paying to be in the heart of touristy New York. But as I always say in my other answers, there are always good deals to be found if you look hard enough. Also, January – March is not as busy a season as the holidays or the summer, so you may find some good deals.
