I’m not sure how I feel about the docking done for non-medical reasons, I’m still puzzling out the ethics of it myself, but my grandparents has miniature schnauzers ALL of my life and I spent countless hours amongst them as a child and young adult, and none of them ever seemed traumatized, or put-out, or even remotely ‘flinchy’ as a result of their tail and ear dockings: they were full of personality, well-behaved (although that likely largely as a result of my grandfather’s gift with animals), and surprisingly unique individuals.Â
